Ubuntu keyboard shortcuts

One of the weird things I found with Amarok was the keyboard “shortcuts”, they looked correct but all I got was a big old circle with a line through the center (the classic NO smoking sign). Anyways turns out this was due to the fact ubuntu had stolen that mapping for its music task. So how to change it back ? Open the Keyboard applet and click on shortcuts

Now according to the description (at the bottom of the applet) To edit a shortcut, click the row and hold down the new keys or press backspace to clear. THAT IS A LIE or certianly not the whole truth. You must click the rows’ column which shows the current keyboard short cut till it says “new shortcut” You can click the label of the shortcut till the cows come home but NOTHING happens…
